Rodney Leisle†† DT†† UCLA

Rodney plays with excellent leverage and strength and has required double teams most of the time he was on the field. He has very good work ethic and shows leadership skills. He is an excellent 2 gap DT with the potential to put pressure on the QB in the passing game. Rodney has the ability to neutralize double teams and understands his role in the defensive scheme. He will be a good teammate and an asset to the team that drafts him.

Needs to Improve

Rodney right now relies on his strength and toughness to dominate at the college level. He will have to learn to use technique along with his strength to dominate at the next level. Rodney will also have to improve his foot speed and quickness. Right now, heís good from tackle to tackle, but to dominate at the next level, he will have to do better out of the box.

Bottom Line

Rodney should be a very good 2 down lineman. At this time, heíll have to come off the field in passing situations. He has the ability, but up until now, he hasnít had to work very hard to develop any pass rushing skills other than a bull rush. Rodney will have to concentrate on being an every-down lineman, but he has the character to accomplish this. Rodney will become a core player for the team that drafts him with the ability to make impact plays the longer he stays on the field -- but that is the key. Will he choose to be a complete DT or just another 2 down lineman that can be replaced? I think he will work very hard to become a complete DT in the NFL.
