Adell Duckett   DE   Texas Tech
Adell has good size for his position along with good speed and quickness. He has those nice long pass-rusher arms and is smart. He has decent mental toughness and shows a burst just before he makes a tackle or hits the QB. He looks like he likes to rush the passer.
Needs to Improve

Adell sometimes drops his head just before he goes to tackle which causes him to whiff. He needs to get a lot stronger and put on some weight and at times, is just lazy or lacks stamina on the field. He should be much bigger and stronger by now, so my guess is that he doesn’t like to work out too much. He does a decent job in run defense as long as he uses his arms to keep the O-lineman off him, but that doesn’t happen all the time. I’d like to see him play with a little more “I’m going to make a play” attitude.

Talent Board Round  5

Adell, at this time, does not make enough impact plays to be considered as an impact DE in this draft. He has been at Tech long enough to get bigger and stronger, but he has not done that. At some point, a player has to show a willingness to want to get better and I just don’t see that in his play. Adell might be a very good developmental DE, but I would have to sit down with him and find out if his lack of improvement is because he studies hard in class or he is just lazy. Adell could be a good DE if he puts his mind to it. He has good potential for the position, but for me, if he is the type of kid that you have to motivate, then I would look for other players in this draft.
