Abdul Hodge   LB   Iowa

Abdul is a good heads up, wrap up, squeeze and drive LB.  He shows a quick burst and is a smart player.  He also shows strong leadership skills and makes the players around him better.  He is a hard worker and looks to make the big play at important times of a game without forgetting his assignment.  He is the type of LB that every team needs to be successful at the next level.

Needs to Improve

Abdul is a good north-south LB, but struggles with his lateral movement and change of direction skills.  He will overcome these deficiencies with hard work and experience, but for the purposes of this draft, it will affect where he gets picked.

Talent Board Round   1

Every team needs a LB like Abdul to be successful in the NFL.  He has good talent and is like a coach on the field.  He gets the players around him in the right spots and at the next level, that makes all the difference in the world.  He might not be flashy enough to be picked in the first round, but if he is, you can be sure your team got a LB that will make your team's defense much better once he learns your system.  Abdul is an excellent tackler who takes good angles to the ball and shows a burst to get through to the ball carrier before he gets blocked by those big old O-linemen.  He will make a lot of tackles in the running game and if you give him a few years, he will be a solid defender in the passing game.  He is just a really good football player that loves to hit, has good football instincts, makes the players around him better and will get better himself.  But he is not flashy...he's just good!
