Brodrick Bunkley   DT/DE   Florida St

Strengths

Brodrick is a big powerful kid with excellent quickness and push off the line.  He gives very good effort on every play and shows the mental toughness and discipline needed to fight those big old guards in the trenches every game.  He does a solid job of using his hands and shows good overall balance when he uses a swim or spin move.  He is a perfect fit for a 1-gap defensive system as a disrupter.

Needs to Improve

Brodrick is a tadpole.  He has so much to learn that I just canít list them all; however, the heart, effort, strength and toughness are all in place just waiting to be tapped.

TALENT BOARD ROUND   1

Brodrick has first round athletic talent, but has no techniques right now to back it up.  He will shoot up the boards because his raw talent gives a team so many different options.  He can be used as a DE in a 3-4 defense - or a penetrating DT in a 4-3 one-gap defense.  He also has long range potential and talent to be groomed as a strong side DE in a 4-3, much like a Michael Strahan type.  He reminds me a lot of Cornelius Griffin drafted by The Garden State Giants and who now plays for the Washington Redskins.   Brodrick could become the type of player that Griffin is and stay at the DT position - or, he could also grow very nicely into a strong side DE in a 4-3 and make a pretty good name for himself.  The team that drafts him should decide and commit on draft day to how they are going to use Brodrick because he will need to start learning right away.  As he learns, he can help to rush the passer for you from any one of the positions that I have mentioned.  Therefore, in my book, he will give you some impact while he learns, which pushes him into a possible 1st round pick for me.
