Mario Williams   DE   North Carolina St

Strengths

Mario has excellent size, strength and speed for his position.  He is extremely quick off the line of scrimmage and rushes the passer as well as any DE that's come out in a draft.  He does a good job at the point of attack and is strong enough and quick enough to split the double team and disrupt to make tackles in the backfield.  Mario has excellent potential to be an impact player at the next level.

Needs to Improve

He is a little immature and needs to be motivated to play his best.  He will need a strong coach at the next level to keep him on track.  When he understands what's expected of a top ten pick in a draft, he will be an excellent impact player.  I do feel he will succeed.

Talent Board Round   1

Mario has athletic talent equal to Julius Peppers when he was drafted.  He is a bit immature and is in for a shock when he starts to play in the NFL, but he shows excellent pride when he's challenged and that attitude makes me feel that he will, after some growing pains, turn into a very fine player.  Mario is the perfect fit for a defensive end in a 4-3 defense.  I think he would be very dangerous and almost unstoppable if he were coming from the blind side at the next level.  After Mario gets through the shock of finding out that he's going to have to work hard to get better against bigger, stronger and faster O-linemen, thatís when he should turn into one hell of a player.  The problem is that we will all have to wait for that to happen before we're able to enjoy his play.  He will impact fast and then hit the proverbial wall.  At that point, Mario will have to get serious to get better.  He's shown me on the field that when he gets embarrassed, he will rise to the challenge.  I would personally rate Kiwanuka higher than Mario because Mathias will get better by self-motivation, is more mature and has leadership skills that Mario has not shown me.  My guess is that Mario will show leadership skills as soon as he matures.  Mario is quicker off the line, but Mathias is smarter.  Mario and Mathias both should be impact players at the next level.  I just feel that Mathias will impact faster and be more consistent.
