Parys Haralson   DE   Tennessee

Parys is a quick-twitch DE that uses his quickness and long strides to get by his man and pressure the QB.  He is a smart player and understands situational football.  He loves going after the QB and does a good job against the run.  Parys has some unusual talents and is an intriguing player.

Needs to Improve

Parys plays to his competition and does not impact as much as his talent makes you think he should.  He is quick off the line, but he lacks good change of direction skills.  He almost strikes me as a kid that is too smart for his own good.

Talent Board Round   3

Every time I watch this kid, I come away disappointed.  He has a world of talent and his quickness and first step off the line is really quite amazing.  I waited for his combine numbers; I thought I would see something that would make me feel like I was right about his talent.  But nothing was there but a bunch of average measurements that a good to solid DE/LB could put up.  It is obvious that this kid is not a self-motivated player and I think the only hope for him turning into a player at the next level is if someone can figure out how to turn the switch on.  If they can, then I think he will be a hell of an OLB in a 3-4 defense.  I also think he could be a hell of a strong side OLB in a 4-3 defense; however, with his natural ability to disappoint himself, his teammates and coaches with garbage time play on the field, I fear he will be more trouble than he's worth.  Itís too bad because for a while there, I was going to learn how to say his first name.  On second thought -- I think Iíll put the same effort into it that he's put into his own play and just fuhgeddaboutit!
