Matt Gutierrez   QB   Idaho St

Matt has excellent size and strength for his position.  He shows me on film to have superior arm strength and solid fundamentals.  He is a drop back QB that has visible pocket awareness and moves well in the pocket to avoid the rush.  Matt is the prototypical QB and his game translates very well to the next level.  He does a good job of managing the game plan and going through his progressions.

Matt has the talent to play at the next level.  He lacks confidence in his game and lacks experience at the position.  Matt is a developmental QB with big time potential who is in need of pro coaching.  The big question for me is, how much passion does Matt have in him to make himself better than he is right now?

Matt has big time potential that needs a lot of development.   He has sleeper written all over him.  It was very hard to tell on the film that Iíve watched how well he will handle pressure at the next level because he didnít have a very good O-line in front of him.  Therefore, I will be very interested to see him in the East-West Shrine game.  Sometimes players are better pro players than they were college players.  I think that Matt might be one of those players.  He has to show me more accuracy on deep passes and he has to prove his leadership skills for me to think that he can challenge for, and eventually win a starting QB position in the NFL.  I like what I saw in his potential and athletic talent to be a very good starting QB in the NFL.  He definitely needs to build confidence in his game before he can start to lead others; however, with good overall QB coaching, Matt should be one of the sleeper QBís of this draft.
