Prescott Burgess   LB   Michigan

Prescott is sneaky good LB.  You donít notice him until the end of the game when you look at the stats and say, ďWho is #6 that made all these plays?Ē  He shows a lot of natural athleticism and is a head up, wrap up, squeeze and drive tackler.  He has very good size and is very smart.  He does a solid job in pass defense and shows decent change of direction skills.  Prescott is a good teammate and knows how to let others shine while he quietly goes about doing his job.  I think he might be able to play more than one LB position.  I think this kid might be a pretty good MLB if he is given the chance.  That would depend on his speed and burst. Thatís a combine issue; however, even if he does not have the speed, you still got yourself a damn good OLB.

Like I said, speed and burst will dictate what round Prescott will be drafted in.  Thatís my only question with this kid.  It will also determine the kind of defenses in which he would be most successful at the next level.

If he goes to the combine and runs a 4.60 to 4.70 forty, this kid has the ability to play in a lot of different style of defenses and could shoot in to the second round.  If he runs more than a 4.70 forty, you are looking at a LB who will need to play inside in a 3-4 defense.  Still, thatís not bad.  This kid is a bit of a sleeper.  Remember, a sleeper pick for me is a player that plays for a big program that everyone overlooks.  Prescott fits that description to a tee and because he is so unassuming, even if he proves that he has good speed and burst, he might still fall into the second day.  Scouts like to see a take-charge attitude from LBís and if you donít have that or project that, they will downgrade you.  Personally for me, I donít need all my LBís to be great leaders.  I just want them to play with an attitude on game day and Prescott does that.  His attitude is team-oriented and believe me, that is not a bad thing.  It is a good thing.  Ask the New England Patriots.  This is just the style of LB that the New England defense is based on.  I think Prescott is going to surprise a lot of people with his athleticism at the combine; the problem is, I bet most people forget about that when it comes to draft day.  The one team that doesnít should get themselves a hell of a LB.
