Drew Boylhart February 2008
Andre Caldwell   WR   Florida

STRENGTHS
Andre reminds me a lot of Isaac Bruce (WR Saint Louis Rams).  He has good size and speed and is a very polished WR.  He shows excellent quickness as well as burst in and out of his breaks.  In fact, changing gears seams to be his biggest strength when he runs his routes.  Andre has great hands and is a complete WR.  He does a good job blocking and looks to be a valuable teammate.  Andre has a very smooth stride and has what I call a “calm or quiet” lower body when he runs his routes.  He uses his burst to go by you and does not use a lot of hip movement or head fakes to move past you and go for the deep pass.  His cuts are precise and his strong stride is what makes him move past and behind his defender.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE
Injuries and upper body strength are big weaknesses that Andre is going to have to address to be successful for the next level.  Andre also lacks the true mental toughness and leadership qualities to be a #1 WR.  He might develop the leaderships as he gets older, but he may not want or try to do this.  Andre also struggles being consistent going over the middle and making the big play.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 2
Andre will be an asset to the team that drafts him, but I don’t think that he will be a #1 WR.  A #1 WR demands (through his play on the field) that the passing game go through his hands.  Andre will be a very good WR, but I’m not convinced that you can count on him to make the big play in a big game by fighting through the double team.  Andre will be as good as Amani Toomer or TJ Houshmandzadeh and those players are very good players to have on your team - but they are not #1 WR’s.  As soon as Andre builds himself up and can stay on the field, he will make some big plays, become a fan favorite and even make some Pro Bowls; however, for the purposes of this draft, Andre is a very good WR but not a franchise WR.  Andre does have the abilities to turn into the same type of player as Isaac Bruce did for his team.  I suspect that the QB and the offensive system need to be right for him along with warm weather and a dome.  Its like that song – “When the moon is in the Seventh House and Jupiter aligns with Mars- Then peace will guide the planets and then in the dawning of the Age of Aquarius - that is when Andre could become a #1 WR.  Until that time, he should be a hell of a #2.
