Drew Boylhart   3/09

Quan Cosby   WR/ST   Texas

Quan is one of the most exciting players in this draft.  He has good size, bulk and quickness to play and impact in more than one position.  He is quick and fast and fearless.  He runs excellent routes and catches everything thrown his way.  Quan is a very good blocker and gives excellent effort in all phases of his game.  He is smart and understands situational football.  He makes the players around him better and shows leadership skills through his play on the field.  Quan is underrated as a WR and a sleeper impact specialty player who can impact as a starting WR, slot WR, return man on special teams and third down favorite receiver for the team that drafts him.  Quan is going to be one of the most exciting players from this draft -- a fan favorite and probably one that will be playing in a Pro Bowl.

Quan is not being considered by most teams as a starting WR because he is vertically challenged.  That is a big mistake.  Also, everyone considers his age to be a negative.  I consider it a positive!  Really, it's not like the kid is thirty years old.  What's the difference if you sign a player who is 21 yrs old to a four or five year contract compared to a player who is 26 yrs old.  I'll tell you what the difference is:  with the 26 year old kid, you're not paying him to develop for the first two or three years of the contract.  With the 26 year old player, you're paying for immediate impact for the full length of the contract.  That's bang for your buck, baby!

Here is the true value of the two-board system.  You will see Quan rated and not drafted (I suspect) until the fourth round or after.  But, for me, I don't have to worry about what round Quan will be drafted in -- I just have to tell you how talented he is.  Quan has that rare ability to play bigger than he is.  He has that rare ability to catch the ball when no other WR's can or will.  Quan is a winner and the teams that pass on him in this draft will be very sorry they did not draft him.  He may not be as fast as Steve Smith (WR Carolina Panthers), but he is as quick and talented and has that same fearless way of playing the game of football that you do not see enough of nowadays.  Even if Quan does not wind up as a starting WR in the NFL, he will still impact at any position.  He does not need to touch the ball that much in a game to impact.  So go ahead:  downgrade the kid and don't draft him until late in the draft, but I will guarantee you this much.  You will be re-working his contract before his first contract is up.  I don't care how old this kid is.  He is a winner and drafting winners is what it is all about.  I don't have to be right about what round Quan is drafted in,  I just have to be right about his talent!  LTI baby, it's all about LTI!  I call him Quan (Surprise) Cosby  because he is going to surprise a lot of people after he is drafted and age is not going to be an issue then!
