Ricky Jean-Francois   DT   LSU

STRENGTHS

Make no mistake about it -- Ricky can play this game.  He has the size, strength, quickness and speed to dominate his opponent whenever he wants to...at the college level.  He could play as a 1-gap or 2-gap defensive lineman or he could slim down and become a Reggie White style DE in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense.  Ricky is a very talented football player; but, as I always say, it takes more than talent to play in the NFL.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE

The only person who can stop Ricky from being an excellent football player is Ricky.  So far he has reached his goal of screwing up his draft status as a possible 1st round draft pick.  He lacks the true mental stamina and work ethic that is required to be successful at the NFL level.  He was not very successful at the college level and, in my opinion, should have been kicked off the team for a lack of effort.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 7 (NIML)

NIML -- this stands for "Not In My Life" would I waste a draft choice on this kid.  He is a legend in his own mind and unless he gets a good kick in the hindquarters from someone he respects, then that's all he will ever be.   It's a real shame because the kid has the big time talent.  He could have been a top ten pick in this draft if he would have just shut his mouth and played to his athletic talent on every play.
