Equanimeous St. Brown   WR   Notre Dame

STRENGTHS
Equanimeous reminds me of former wide receiver Braylon Edwards but without the baggage. He is a tall receive with excellent overall strength and very good speed. He has the lateral agility to run routes and make yardage after the catch. He has the size to be a match up nightmare in the red zone and has enough body control to make the acrobatic catch. Equanimeous has excellent up side to his game and the team the selects him may be getting a player who reminds me of Braylon Edwards but the truth is, Equanimeous has the upside to be a lot better receiver than Braylon was. In fact, he has the potential to be as good as Bengal’s wide receiver A J Green.

CONCERNS
Equanimeous has got to improve the strength in his hands and this will help him to improve his catch radius. For a tall receive he has a small catch radius. You better be an accurate QB and make sure you hit this kid in the numbers because any ball thrown down low, up too high or outside the numbers becomes a fifty-fifty proposition as to whether he catches it or not. I have seen him make acrobatic catches and he has made plenty of catches on contested balls but at the next level he has to upgrade his hand strength and become much more consistent in both areas. He can and he will because once you see a player can catch passes outside his comfort zone it’s just a matter of repetitions and improving his hand strength to improve. Also Equanimeous will get hit harder than he has ever been hit before and how well he mentally accepts the punishment a receiver takes at the next level will be a big key to his success at the next level. He seems to be the type of player who worships working out and is concerned with saving himself. That being said, most players are and should have this concern it’s just that some have it more than others.

BOTTOM LINE
Equanimeous has the potential to be a much better receiver at the next level than he was at the college level and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be. He has excellent untapped talent and if he is willing to work harder to gain more consistency in his route running, catching the ball and blocking he can become a number one receiver for the team that selects him. Right now he looks on film to be a number two receiver who compliments the number one receiver but trust me there is a ton of talent just waiting to come out in this kid and I suspect a receivers coach is drooling at the thought of coaching this kid at the next level. All I can say is ESB looks good to me, good to me, good to me. Select him, work with him and you will see how good ESB can be. Dilly dilly!
