Isaiah Oliver   CB   Colorado

STRENGTHS
Isaiah is a very smooth, gliding, athletic player with the size and speed most teams are looking for in the modern day cover cornerback. He reminds me a lot of the Ravens Jimmy Williams. He has excellent size and those long arms and legs that make it easy for him to sit on the hip of a receiver and still be able to reach up and snatch the ball right out of the air. He has good straight line speed and with his long anaconda like arms he can strike with snake like quickness to intercept a pass when it looks like he is a step or two behind the receiver. Isaiah has the hands to make the interception and will make impact plays but what Isaiah brings with him to your team is pure cover corner skills to shut down those big receivers in the red zone because of his size and sneaky snake like anaconda long arms.

CONCERNS
Isaiah plays at times like he is overly concerned about his body and the possibility of injuries happening to that body. He can tackle but struggles to be consistent. He is not the quickest corner to support the run but he will do the job if forced to. He is not a physical corner stronger and more physical receivers can push Isaiah all through the route. Of course some of that is because Isaiah is trying to trick the quarterback into throwing the ball his way but at the next level until he bulks up most receivers and quarterbacks will take advantage of his lack of physical nature. Isaiah lacks the lateral agility to stay with the smaller quicker receivers but he minimizes this weakness with those snake like and quick striking interception arms that will surprise most receivers when they think they are open.

BOTTOM LINE
I like Isaiah’s potential but he has to get stronger in his upper body to handle the bigger and faster receivers at the next level. His lack of physical nature is the real concern and his over concerning nature for his bodies well being, could be what holds Isaiah back from become the player his talent suggests that he can become. Being available to play is the key because the talent is there and his ability to improve his football IQ is there. With his size and unique arm length there is only one concern left…his ability to stay on the field. Isaiah has done a good job at the college level of being available for his team but the next level is a big difference and his lack of physicality will be challenged. Nevertheless if you’re looking for a potential cover corner for your defense it would not be smart to pass on selecting Isaiah early in this draft.
