Simmie Cobbs   WR   Indiana

TALENT
ROUND

STRENGTHS
Simmie is a big, strong, power receiver who has all the talent a player needs to become a dominating player for the team that selects him. He has excellent hands to catch the ball and has the strength and power body to be able to outfight a corner for the ball in contested situations. He is a red zone match up night mare for any defense and inside the 50 yard line. This kids smells the end zone like a hunting dog smells its prey. Sammie has plenty of confidence and wants to be the top receiver on the team. He shows good feet and very good run after the catch skills and can and will catch the ball and move the chains when everyone in the stadium knows the pass is going to him. Simmie has the talent to compete and be an impact player at the next level. Now let’s say it all together…but it takes more than talent to play in the NFL.

CONCERNS
I have no idea what this kid does off the field but on the field he is sloppy and a bully and not the smartest tool in the shed. Why do I say he is not the smartest tool in the shed? I say it because, if he were smart he would work on his craft and not just think because he is bigger than most on the field he can just push players around to get separation on his routes. He runs poor routes and lazy routes. He is the push off king of the college receivers. He thinks he is a good receiver right now but he hasn’t got a clue of the work ethic that he will need at the next level to correct his poor techniques, learn to run routes correctly and in general change his attitude from “it’s all about me” Simmie. It’s a shame because this kid has Dez Bryant type talent.

BOTTOM LINE
That’s what I said, Dez Bryant type talent. Simmie has issues on the field that come through in his play that are troubling to me. The truth is, I’d let someone else select him and see where he is after his first contract is up. But that’s just me, Talking To Myself™. For me personally Simmie has 1st round talent with a 7th round work ethic and head. So the 5th round seems about right to me to MAYBE take a chance of selecting him, if at all.
